After spending thirty years in the manufacturing sector and watching it being decimated by the forces of globalization, it became abundantly clear, the time to manufacture was over and the time to switch to specialty retailing was at hand.
It made perfect sense to use our experience within the Hearth Products Sector as a starting point in May of 2006. Over the next twelve months, we defined ourselves as a seller of Renewable Energy Products and added several complimentary product lines that address the needs of the following key markets:
a) Residential - renovation and new home construction
b) Recreational - cottages, lodges, hunting camps
c) Commercial - business and institutions
Our goal is to maintain the highest level of product and service quality. When we say we are going to do something, we do it! There is nothing worse than broken promises.
We offer great value for the money and we only charge a sufficient amount to ensure we stay in business for the long-haul. We treat all our customers with fairness and consistency and we always clean up before we leave the job site.

Key Players at Energy Options:
Dave Ainsworth - Apparently he owns the place but you would never know it! Career started in 1975 manufacturing fireplaces and wood-burning furnaces in Eganville, Ontario. Do not feel bad if you have never heard of Eganville because you may not have heard of Renfrew either! Started making mantels for fireplaces in 1986 and ended that phase in 2005. Specialty Retail is a good fit for lots of reasons.
Vivian Hill - Has many years of experience in office management, sales support, customer service and bookkeeping within a manufacturing environment. A keen interest in gardening and living off the land has made the transition to retailing renewable energy products a smooth one.
Gary Martin - Is a bit of a ‘jack of all trades’ who really understands the intricacies
of renewable energy products. It is our goal to identify the ‘real’ needs of our customers and sell them the products that will do the job. Gary is then charged with the task of ensuring that everything is installed correctly and in compliance with all relevant building codes.
Installation and Service:
As a business selling seasonal products, it does not make economic sense to hire tradespeople on a full-time basis. Instead we select those trades that best represent our values and work with them. The following list represents the companies that we know will treat you and your property with respect and will do their work with pride!
Renfrew Heating - installs and services our gas and wood fireplaces.
Yemen Electric - completes all electrical work on solar, wind and microhydro
projects as well as fireplaces.
Top-to-Bottom Chimney Service - installs wood fireplaces and performs a full
range of chimney services.
Titan Installations - develops the plan and installs stonework for fireplaces and
chimneys.
